Coat & Bag Check

There is a coat check / bag check available to safely store your belongings (cost $2, cash only), located in the skate rental room at the north end of Robson Square.

While many people leave their bags and belongings on the ice rink, Robson Square is a public space and every Sunday a few people report stolen bags. For your security, we recommend using the bag check. The $2 fee (cash only) goes towards the costs of running the events.

Free Dance Lessons and Dance Shows

The Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances start with a free beginner salsa dance lesson at 3pm for anyone who has ever wanted to learn how to dance salsa, even those who claim they have two left feet! The lesson lasts for half an hour (3:00-3:30pm) and is taught by some of Vancouver’s best salsa instructors.

At 5pm there are dance performances by local dancers and dance companies representing a wide variety of different dance styles.

The Sunday Afternoon Salsa dances are open to everyone and you are welcome even if you’ve never danced a day in your life.

Location

Robson Square is located at the corner of Robson Street and Howe Street in downtown Vancouver. Google Maps

Public Transit: Leave the car at home and take public transit. Catch a bus downtown or take the SkyTrain. Fares are only $3.10 from any zone on Sundays to come downtown on TransLink. Granville Station (on the Canada Line and Millennium & Expo Lines) is just two blocks away.

Evo Car Share: Use an Evo car to come downtown and you can park at any street meter for free!

By Car: Parking downtown has become very expensive. These are the nearest parkades close to Robson Square: Indigo Robson Square Lot, Infinity Parkade, Robson Court, Winners Parkade.

We use the Indigo Robson Square Lot #189 under the Law Courts to unload the event gear. Enter from Howe St, near Nelson (map). The best way to pay for parking in this lot is to use their Indigo Neo parking app, so you can select the amount of time you want to park for.

Note that the only way to return to your vehicle is through the elevator in the Law Courts building on the north side of Smithe St (between Howe & Hornby). When you leave Robson Square, walk south along Howe or Hornby to Smithe St at the end of the block.
