Thanks to everyone who supported, attended and participated in the 2007 summer's dances at Robson Square: the event sponsors (Downtown Vancouver Business Improvement Association, MarketPlace IGA Supermarket, and the Georgia Straight), the instructors, the performers, and everyone who turned up every week to make it the biggest and best annual salsa event in Vancouver!

We'd like to thank the volunteers who helped us run the event over the course of the summer: Ai & Nina, Barry, Christina, Corinne, Elisa, Eugenia, Frances, Jeannie, Jose, Lee, Liat, Lico, Mary, Mimo, and Tasleem. Sunday Afternoon Salsa would not have been possible without you!

Volunteers

Want to be part of the Sunday Afternoon Salsa team? We're looking for committed volunteers to help us set up beforehand, help run things during the dances, and help pack up afterwards.

Volunteers will be asked to commit to a minimum number of hours and dates over the series of events.

How to get there

By Public Transit
Leave the car at home and take public transit. Granville Street station is just two blocks away and only $2.25 from any zone on Sundays to come downtown on TransLink

By Car
Inexpensive parking is available in:

• Infinity Parkade: Located directly across the street (Howe St) from Robson Square. To get there, go east on Robson, between Howe and Granville turn right into the alley, and go south midway until you see the lot entrance on your right.

• Winners/Future Shop parkade: Enter off Robson St heading west (between Seymour and Granville).

• Law Courts Parkade underneath Robson Square: Entrance on Howe at Nelson, park at the UBC end of the parkade. Note: this parking lot may have limited access to and from Robson Square.

Sunday Afternoon Salsa is an annual summer series of free, outdoor salsa dances held at Robson Square in downtown Vancouver - organized and run by a group of voluteers from Vancouver's salsa dance community. In 2007, our second year, the dances ran every Sunday afternoon in July and August from 3:00pm to 7:30pm - with free beginner dance lessons (3:00-3:30pm) and a Latin dance show at 5pm.

Sunday Afternoon Salsa is open to everyone and you are welcome whether you dance every night in the local clubs, are just starting to take lessons, or have only heard about salsa music and dance but don't know what all the fuss is about. Join in the fun or just come and watch - Vancouver has plenty of accomplished dancers who love to show off!

Even if you've never danced a day in your life, don't feel shy - come and try the free lesson at 3pm, watch the shows at 5pm, or just check out the social dancing throughout the afternoon and see how much fun it is! There will be lots of information available about salsa dance classes and lessons, and many instructors will be there who can answer any questions you may have.

Robson Square (pictured above) is conveniently located in the heart of downtown Vancouver, down the stairs from the corner of Robson and Howe, and features a 5,000 square foot, outdoor dance floor of the smoothest, polished concrete. And it's under cover so there'll be dancing rain or shine!

Come spend the day downtown - go shopping, have a bite to eat, and dance the afternoon away with us!
